Vintage Marcel Boucher Gold-tone Cabochon Rhinestone Bird of Paradise Brooch Pin. This is a wonderful rare vintage 1950s Marcel Boucher massive Bird of Paradise Brooch Pin made of Blue, Green, Clear, and Red rhinestones and a single Red cabochon on the crown of it's head. Condition: one small red rhinestone is missing. Regarded as one of the most important designers of costume jewelry from the 1930's - 1960's.
Jewelry signed Boucher is highly collectible. Before starting his own company in the U. The French born Marcel Boucher worked for Cartier and Mazer. The faux emerald and sapphire rhinestones and single faux ruby on the birds head are all pave set.
The clear and small red rhinestones are set in rhodium plated metal making the rhinestones even more brilliant. The "feathered" wings and tail feathers of the Phoenix are highly polished gold tone metal. It is really a glorious piece. The bird's wings extend 4 1/8" and 3 2/4" from the tail to the rhinestones on the top of the head. The pin bar measures 2-1/4 long and the pin can be worn in any direction with wings extended north - south or east - west. The photographs do not do this pin justice, it's a truly amazing piece of vintage costume jewelry created by Boucher.
