This RARE & HARD TO FIND Sterling Trifari butterfly pins are signed TRIFARI with the crown (some a little lighter than others), STERLING and PAT PEND. The SINGLE earring is also signed TRIFARI with the crown and STERLING. The set is a book piece and can be seen in Brunialti's book, Volume 2: American Costume.Jewelry Art and Industry 1935- 1950 on page 139. The set was advertised in the September. Issues of Vogue and Mademoiselle. (THAT WAS TWO PINS & EARRINGS, THE ONE OFFERED TO YOU ARE 4 PINS, WITH ONLY ONE EARRING). The patent number is 138520 issued to Alfred Phillipe on August 15, 1944. The pieces have a slight gold wash & are set with red and blue cabochon stones & small clear rhinestones (a few missing). The largest pin measures 1 3/4" by 1 5/8" inches, the 3 smaller pins measures 1 1/4 inches by 7/8 inches. These come from an estate of an antiques dealer who closed shop in the 1980's and many of those items were stored away in boxes, up until now.
