Book Piece Huge 5 Vintage Schreiner Trembler Rhinestone Floral Pin Brooch

This is a very large 5" tall x 2 1/2" wide book piece floral rhinestone trembler pin by Schreiner with this piece being unsigned. In the book "Schreiner, Masters of Twentieth-Century Costume Jewelry" by Carole Tanenbaum & Eve Townsend, on page 174 the pin is pictured in all red rhinestones, and this pin is done in a three color rhinestone combination: clear foil less rhinestones, light gray rhinestones, and amber brown rhinestones. The captioning above the picture in the book reads: Handcrafted Settings. Wire designs like these were made entirely by hand and were therefore produced one at a time. Initially created only by Ambros (Schreiner's son-in-law), other employees eventually learned the technique, c. This pin is in excellent all original condition with one exception: behind the lowest amber-brown flower at the very bottom of the pin, one single navette that was on a single metal stem, has broken off. I showed pictures of this in #3 & 4, first from the backside of the brooch and then from the frontside with my finger pointing to where that rhinestone would have been located. Under close magnification, I carefully compared this pin to the one in the book and found that nothing else is missing or broken, only this one navette and its stem. All other rhinestones are present and in very good condition with none missing or having been replaced.

They are all shiny and bright with excellent clarity and shine. About half of the rhinestones are inverted on the pin -- all of the clear and amber rhinestones are inverted and the light gray rhinestones are not. Please note that all of the clear rhinestones are foil less and they are in closed settings so they are not dull or dirty, that is just the way the pin was designed.

Also, there are a scattering of clear and amber rhinestones that are in open back settings. There are six flower heads on this pin and three have trembler springs. The very largest flower head towards the top of the pin has its spring slightly stretched but the trembler is still firmly attached. This large flower head trembles the most out of the three tremblers -- the bottom two flower heads are also on springs but they don't move as easily. The pin's frame is silver rhodium plating that is in good condition overall -- there are a few areas of chipping to the plating on various areas of the pin showing up as more of a gold or dark color in the photos -- but there is no rust or verdigris on the metal.

The pin has its original locking'c' clasp that is firmly attached and works well. This is a beautiful, well-made very large pin by this iconic vintage jewelry designer and it is is very good-to-excellent condition with the one exception mentioned.
