Book Piece REJA Sterling Rocking Horse Brooch Glass Ruby Cabochons Pave RS

This is a rare, and charming pin. Designed by Solomon Finkelstein, branded.

Finkelstein's limitless imagination designed so many unique pieces. A couple that come to mind include the Weeping Willow Tree and the Royal Swan Brooch. My research dates the Rocking Horse to the early 1940s. The sterling marked horse sits atop a rose gold plated rocker surrounding a row of lovely opaque pinkish red glass oval cabochons.

Small clear pavé crystal rhinestones completely cover the body of the horse. The design uses rose gold plating to highlight certain areas of the brooch.

The rose gold is a very nice touch to this sparkling horse as it seems to come to life with a flying mane and tail in the wind. It softens the look and makes it look elegant all at the same time.

The overall condition is very good. The roll over clasp works as it should and is secure. I will however point out that I think the pin back may have been replaced at some point. I can't say that for sure because if it has been they did the most professional job I have ever seen. I could be wrong about this.

The finish is in wonderful condition and I don't believe there are any stones missing. Some of the pavé rhinestones do show some aging, but nothing that detracts from the beauty of this brooch.

It does bear the REJA signature and the mark STERLING. You can count on the highest quality, and excellent designs when purchasing a Reja piece. Possibly this will help you find the matching pieces if you desire to do so.

The earrings, which I have seen, were simply marked Sterling Pat Pend. Necklace Approximately 2 x 2 1/8.
