The gold tone of the metal in front may be picking up shadows or look dark - it is not. The brooch is gorgeous and what I would call excellent vintage condition. Gently worn if worn at all and well stored/taken care of. All gems are securely fastened in. The Weiss name is not fully printed/ stamped which I have seen several times in the past. To me this isn't a big deal. This can be seen in an image. This piece would make a wonderful gift to any Weiss or Vintage Jewelry lover and of course, it would make a great addition to your own ever-growing collection! Vintage or preowned jewelry typically shows wear constant with its age. That is why we love it so much. It is not new or professionally cleaned and I have no idea where it has been before I received it. Most of the time, I try not to disturb any vintage/preowned jewelry by cleaning and/or polishing it in order to keep it in its original patina leaving it to your discretion.I do not want to take a chance ruining something.
