Vintage Coronation Crown Vermeil Brooch Marked Sterling 17.62g
Vintage Coronation Crown Vermeil Brooch Marked Sterling 17.62g. Vintage Mid-Century Sterling Silver Vermeil Rhinestone Crown Pin Brooch, likely a coronation brooch manufactured in the early 1950s following the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. It is Sterling Silver (hallmarked as pictured) with vermeil overlay so it looks gold rather than silver. It's highlighted by open-back, prong-set teardrop shaped red, blue and green (symbolizing the Royal Gemstones of Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald) plus four round cabochons in complementing colors and a line of clear pave-set paste stones. The sterling setting is accented with a fleur de lis at the top, and floral details.

The brooch measures approx 1-3/4" high x 2" wide and has a weight of approx. Fold over pin with safety catch closure, and loop on back. A photo of this pin is in Deborah Crosby's book A Century of Jewelry. Condition is good vintage condition, all stones solid with a touch of age-related patina and signs of wear such as scratches, mild peeling and dark spots on the vermeil, tarnishing and missing one clear stone on lower left. The fold over pin has a slight bend that doesn't interfere with function.
