Vintage Gripoix fur clip DEPOSE Brooch Chanel attrib'td Poured glass pin France
This pin clip is a very rare, old depiction of an apple blossom -it measures 2" by 1.8" with a domed profile. The pin mechanism holds tight and all of its poured glass is still in place. The "Depose" mark is stamped on back of the clip.
A bit of verdigris can be seen under magnification on the metal frame but is not readily apparent when worn. Luscious Gripoix made glass was incorporated in the work of many designers throughout the 20th century. In the USA, Hattie Carnegie produced a version of this pin (possibly after a trip to Paris to view the latest offerings from her competitor, Chanel).
