Vintage TRIFARI Sterling Shield Brooch Heraldic Rhinestone Crest Pin

Produced in 1945, this colorful Trifari design of a crest / shield was one of Trifari's more expensive sterling silver pieces that year. Costing 50% more than their crowns, this pin is far less available than either the crowns or the jelly bellies.

The pin has seen better days and so it has be deeply discounted in price due to its flaws. The large green rhinestone has weathered the years well with only a couple small flea bites to the top table. The blue cabochons on either side of the green and below are original and damage free. The red baguettes at the bottom are also original but the very botton rhinestone looks to be an old replacement done in an incorrect color (pink). The clear rhinestones are all present and original but they are not giving off much sparkle. The very top of the shield is where most of the stones are not original and incorrectly replaced. There should be 7 red teardrop cabochons but only 4 remain. Three red round rhinestones were glued in the place of the missing teardrops. Between the three sections of red teardrops should be three green chatons but in one of the two areas, someone replaced a missing green with a red. The goldwash is in good to fair condition as the majority of it is worn off. There are no repairs (other than the stone issue) and the hardware is original.

However, the pin shaft is a bit wonky. The brooch is slightly over 2 tall and weighs 20 grams.
